DENGUE FEVER

The fever is propagated from August to November, by the bite during daytime of the female mosquito genre Aedes Aegypti. The female mosquito needs protein to lay her eggs. Normally the mosquito bites animals. But if they are not available humans are bitten. 20% of the victims can die. With proper care and timely detection most of the deaths can be prevented.

SYMPTOMS:
Symptoms can appear between 3-14 days after the bite
Cold followed by persistent high fever. Headache. Muscle pain. Severe fatigue.
Extremely low blood platelet which could lead to blood transfusion.
Severe dehydration.
In advanced stages, profuse bleeding from nose and mouth. Appearance of red spots on upper parts of the body.

If any of these symptoms occur a qualified doctor should be immediately consulted. Some of these symptoms occur regularly and could not be necessarily related to Dengue fever but extreme precaution and vigilance is required to avoid the fatal consequences.

PRECAUTIONS:
Do not let water stagnate near your living areas. Keep potable water well covered. Regular spray of insecticides is strongly advised.
